Lucien Postlewaite
Principal, Pacific Northwest Ballet
From Santa Cruz, California, Lucien Postlewaite trained on scholarship at the School of American Ballet and with the Pacific Northwest Ballet School, where he received a Level II Award from the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts. He joined the Pacific Northwest Ballet Company in 2003.
Since becoming a member of the corps de ballet in 2004, Lucien has had leading roles in over a dozen productions, including George Ballanchine’s Agon, Ronald Hyne’s The Merry Widow and Kent Stowell’s The Nutcracker. He’s also performed guest appearances all over the world with the Utah Regional Ballet, the Reiko Yamamoto Ballet Company and the Los Angeles Ballet.
“In ballet, inspiration is a constant. I’m always learning from others and trying to apply things I like about other people’s dancing to mine.”
As a ballet dancer, Lucien appreciates clothing that moves with as much freedom and energy as he does, “I love the performance fabrics blended with the detailing. I really appreciate clothing that allows freedom of movement and comfort. MPG's clothes hang on the body with style and at the same time they have stretch which allows a wide range of movement.”
Lucien looks forward to the rest of his career, knowing his travels and award-winning performances are nowhere near over, “It is such a surreal experience to be caught in the dichotomy of being on stage, completely focused on what you are doing and yet being totally lost in the performance."
Lucien has been the face for the gentlemen's side of multiple MPG campaigns and can most recently be seen in our Spring/Summer 2012 campaign.
